What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including, muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage Therapy helps alleviate the discomfort associated with everyday and/or occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.

What can I expect during my intake?
Before a treatment, there will be an initial assessment and health history taken. Your Massage Therapist will propose a personalized treatment plan based on the findings of your assessment. There may also an assessment consisting of various tests to determine the condition of your muscles and joints.

What happens to my personal information that I have provided?
All personal and health information you provide to your Massage Therapist is completely confidential and will be safeguarded. Your health record cannot be released or transferred without your written consent.

What can I expect during my Massage treatment?
Your treatment will begin after you have given written informed consent to the Massage Therapist. Various specialized movements of the hands, over the skin or clothes, make up Massage Therapy treatment. Our Massage Therapists will work very carefully with your level of pain tolerance during the treatment, and the treatment can be stopped at any time should the treatment become uncomfortable. You are in complete control of your session!

What is consent?
The Massage Therapist requires your consent to work on any part of your body, regardless of whether you are fully clothed, or fully or partially covered with sheets or blankets. Your privacy will always be respected, and you may withdraw your consent for treatment at any time.

Is Massage Therapy covered by my insurance provider?
Many insurance companies cover treatment from a Massage Therapist (RMT) as part of their extended healthcare plans. A Doctor’s note may be required to do so. Please consult with your insurance provider to find out about your coverage.

What is an RMT?
A Registered Massage Therapist is defined as a primary healthcare provider in Ontario and anyone may visit an RMT of their choice. A referral or prescription is not required to visit an RMT, although some insurance companies will require this.

For the most part massage therapy is safe. However, there are some contra indications. A physician's consent is required whenever there is an underlying pathology.
