What is Massage Therapy?

What can I expect during my intake?
To begin, we will discuss your health history during an initial assessment. With those findings, we will then propose a personalized treatment plan. The assessment may include various tests to help determine the condition of your muscles and joints.

All personal and health information you provide to us is completely confidential. It will be securely backed up. Your health record cannot be released or transferred without your written consent.
What can I expect during my Massage treatment?
Treatment only begins after you give written informed consent to your Massage Therapist. Massage is a series of specialized movements using the hands, over the skin or clothes. We will work with you to determine your level of pain tolerance. Treatment can be stopped at any point if you become uncomfortable.
What is consent?
Consent is a written and signed document that you grant permission to your Massage Therapist to work on any part of your body, regardless of whether you are fully clothed, or fully or partially covered with sheets or blankets. Discretion will be used respect your privacy. You can withdraw your consent for treatment at any time.
Is Massage Therapy covered by my insurance provider?
Many insurance companies cover treatment from a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) as part of their extended healthcare plans. A doctor’s note may be required. We recommend that you consult with your insurance provider to find out about your coverage.
What is an RMT?
A Registered Massage Therapist is defined as a primary healthcare provider in Ontario. You may visit any RMT of your choice. A referral or prescription is not required to visit an RMT, although some insurance companies will require this.
For the most part massage therapy is safe. However, there are some contra indications. A physician's consent is required whenever there is an underlying pathology.
